About Sharon

Sharon 'Burbine' Nuccio

Graduate of the former Pedigree Career Institute, Lynn, Mass. Sharon has been grooming dogs, cats and ferrets since 1984. For several years she worked in various grooming shops to gather as much experience as she could.

In 1988, she opened Sharon's Pet Services which was based in Wakefield but serviced most of the North Shore area.

The services included were mobile grooming which was one of the first mobile services in the area, pet sitting, dog walking, training, airport shipping and transportation. The transportation service included the whole north eastern area.

In the past, Sharon has worked with Animal welfare groups like PAWS in Wakefield, the Melrose Humane Society and Salem Animal Rescue League, Salem New Hampshire. She is one of the founding members of the Massachusetts Ferret Friends, a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to shelter, education and outreach for Massachusetts ferret owners. MaFF is a nationally known organization and continues to provide these services for ferret owners. In 1996, she helped to lobby for the legalization of Ferrets here in Massachusetts. Once that was accomplished, she helped to define for the Mass Public Health and the CDC the procedures for quarantine in ferrets and got ferrets to be known as domestic pets.

Sharon shares her home with her beloved husband Joe, Oliver the Chihuahua and three cats, Jenny, Freedom and Wendy. All of her animals are rescues and adoptees which Sharon and Joe both advocate.

Sharon and Joe are avid musicians and can be seen together performing with the Middlesex Concert Band from Wakefield. Sharon also performs with the Jazzabelles an all female big swing jazz band out of Reading, Mass. She has appeared in many other types of musical venues like the Boston Tuba Christmas and various musical pit orchestras. She and Joe love to hike can be seen walking Oliver around Lake Quannapowitt.
